According to recent speculations, the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in acquiring Chicago Bulls standout Zach LaVine. Shams Charania of The Athletic claims the Bulls and LaVine both have “increased openness” to a deal.
Given that LaVine would be yet another Klutch Sports client, rumors of a possible trade to the Lakers have included him. Andy Bailey of Bleacher Report proposed a trade that would send Zach LaVine to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Los Angeles’ starting point guard D’Angelo Russell, starting forward Rui Hachimura, and rookie point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino would all be sent to Chicago in exchange for LaVine, according to the proposed trade. The Bulls also have the option to swap their 2028 first-round pick for a top-five protected pick in the 2030 NBA Draft.
Trade Target for the Los Angeles Lakers A $40,000,000 salary for Zach LaVine represents 29.45% of the salary cap.
It’s amusing to imagine LaVine playing for the Lakers, but before we get carried away, let’s weigh the pros and cons of a prospective trade. If all goes well, LaVine’s big $215 million contract could keep him in the NBA through the 2026-27 season. The two-time All-Star has a player option for the upcoming season that would pay him $48.9 million.
This contract will last much past the time that LeBron James or Anthony Davis will be useful to the Lakers. This season, LaVine is earning $40 million, or 29.45 percent of the team’s salary cap.

NBA Controversy: Could Chicago Bulls G Zach LaVine Be the Key to Los Angeles Lakers Winning Another Title?
Adding LaVine has obvious benefits, as he provides Los Angeles with a reliable third scoring option. LaVine is also a plus shooter, something the Lakers could need. Los Angeles is 23rd in the NBA after 11 games, where they are averaging 34% shooting.
Accоrding tо a piece by Bailey titled “Trade Packages fоr Zach LaVine and Every Tоp Chicagо Bulls Trade Asset,” published оn Nоvember 14, “this mоve makes L.A.’s backcоurt bigger and mоre explоsive, likely pushes Austin Reaves tо the 1 (where he may fit better), and takes sоme оffensive pressure оff LeBrоn and AD.”
To make this work under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, more compensation must be paid to that player in light of the loss of Rui Hachimura. And Cam Reddish may have shown enough promise in his recent games to make us feel comfortable with the winger depth chart.
