After being selected with the 28th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Poole played his first four years in the league with the Warriors. This summer, he was traded to the Wizards as part of the Chris Paul trade.
In his first season in Washington, Poole has averaged 17.2 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.0 rebounds, which is slightly down than the 20.4 ppg he averaged in his last season in Golden State.
With 25 points in the loss, the 24-year-old, who shared an NBA Championship with the Warriors in 2022, exceeded this year’s average.
Poole was given a standing ovation by the San Francisco supporters in addition to a pregame video tribute.
He subsequently made an 18-foot shot to start the game from the left wing, but each time he walked to the free-throw line, he was jeered.
The Wizards’ record is currently a miserable 5-23, reflecting their lack of success in the early going of the season despite Poole’s addition to the team.
The San Antonio Spurs (4-23) and Detroit Pistons (2-26) are the only teams with records worse than the Wizards.
With the win, Golden State, on the other side, improved to 14-14 and moved to.500 on the season.
Curry finished with 30 points, seven assists, and four rebounds in another impressive performance for the Warriors.
Johnathan Kuminga and Klay Thompson finished with 20 and 22 points, respectively.
