After making a bone-crunching tackle on Jude Bellingham, Lisandro Martinez has caused yet another altercation to break out.
After delivering a vicious two-footed challenge that left Real Madrid’s newest signing on the ground, the Argentine was shown a yellow card for his actions.
The Madrid players didn’t take too kindly to the challenge, and they rushed to their new teammate’s help as soon as they could after hearing about it.
After the challenge, which resulted in the World Cup winner receiving a booking from the referee, there was some pushing and shoving that followed.
As soon as the midfielder was brought to the ground, he stood up, and the referee did a good job of bringing the players back under control.
A similar incident occurred over the weekend between Manchester United and Arsenal after Martinez made a hard tackle on Bukayo Saka. The scenes were eerily identical.
The Argentine defender has a reputation for being aggressive and reveling in physical contact, and he lived up to that reputation as he ran straight through Saka.
Martinez was able to win the initial ball and then immediately flew into the tackle, which completely took Saka out of the game. The England international gave Martinez a light shove as he was sitting up, but Martinez’s skipper Martin Odegaard moved in quickly to challenge him, and Martinez was immediately shown a yellow card for his actions.
The situation was brought under control just in the nick of time since it appeared like tempers were about to boil over. Despite this, the tackle has received a lot of feedback on the internet, with many people criticizing Martinez for it.
A lot of the spectators felt the same way about his tackle on Bellingham.
According to the opinion of one spectator, there is “imo no need for this in a preseason friendly.”
Someone else commented, “Lisandro Martinez, you are such a dirty player.”
A third person chimed in, saying, “Lisandro Martinez actually has the small man syndrome lol, man relax it’s just a friendly.”
